The comparison between these cultures has been discussed by taking care of material and non-material aspects of both cultures. These both cultures immerse strong and momentous roots with a milestone of thousands of years in spectra of civilization. Ethical Issues in Educational Sectors

Due to the changing nature of society more and more issues have become the responsibility of the educational institution and I am not sure our schools, colleges and universities are prepared to handle them.   Still the issues fall into three categories: curriculum, th e student,  the educators. What should remain of the curriculum as it stands? What should be taught to students today? Science has provided so much information and technology has changed us all forever.  So what gets taught and what gets left out? Students deserve to be informed as in traditions, morals and beliefs, but they also deserve to be informed about fact and that which is speculation  and fiction?  Religion has its place but I think this needs to be re-evaluated as to what goes in to the textbooks.  Does the curriculum reflect the society by including minorities?  Discrimination and racism still exist so wil l the curriculum reflect  these  Women ? Children? Is ther...

In Praise of Idleness by Bertrand Russell

LIKE most of my generation, I was brought up on the saying “Satan finds some mischief still for idle hands to do.” Being a highly virtuous child, I believed all that I was told and acquired a conscience which has kept me working hard down to the present moment. But although my conscience has controlled my actions, my opinions have undergone a revolution. I think that there is far too much work done in the world, that immense harm is caused by the belief that work is virtuous, and that what needs to be preached in modern industrial countries is quite different from what always has been preached. Every one knows the story of the traveler in Naples who saw twelve beggars lying in the sun (it was before the days of Mussolini), and offered a lira to the laziest of them. Eleven of them jumped up to claim it, so he gave it to the twelfth. This traveler was on the right lines. But in countries which do not enjoy Mediterranean sunshine idleness is more difficult, and a great public pro...

“Where Love Begins”

“ Where Love Begins” I constantly marvel at the opportunities that come my way to reflect upon so many things.  I am a firm believer in thinking that what we need in life will present itself in some form. So in recent days, I have had many opportunities to reflect upon family, friends, society, our beautiful world and, indeed, the miracle of this great Universe! It has been without a doubt the most difficult year of my life.  Illness, death, changes all take their toll and yes throw you into a state of deep reflection and at this moment in time, I find myself wondering what has happened to us as human beings?  Where did compassion and caring for one other go? What has happened to our ability hear the call to heal the world? Why does it seem that there a greater need for us to explore our relation to the Divine and the power of God’s presence in and through one another? What are we forgetting? I stand in awe of those who have the courage, in their circumstance...
